Community Event

$0.00 Members / $0.00 Non-Members

Teen SRP Kickoff with Author Kathe Koja Saturday, June 21st, 1:30 pm At the Romeo District Library, Graubner Library "Like metamorphosis . once you start changing, you've already changed." Kathe Koja, Kissing the Bee Four County Community Foundation presents an afternoon with starred reviewed novelist Kathe Koja at 1:30 pm on Saturday, June 21st, to kick off the Teen Summer Reading Program, Metamorphosis @ Your Library. Publishers Weekly writes that Koja captures "each line of dialogue, each interaction illuminating struggles that readers face as well," in Kissing the Bee. Koja explains that while teenagers are "in the midst of the metamorphosis of adolescence, where so many of the changes are beyond one's control, there are still some things that can be consciously shaped for the better . what a maelstrom those years can be, how frustrating and how scary, along with the upthrusts of energy and joy." A book signing will follow this incredible opportunity to get to know the author of six acclaimed young adult novels that explore a variety of changes teens face today through this interactive program. Books will be available for purchase through The Books Connection of Shelby in Shelby Township. Please call (586) 752-0603, option 4 for more information. The Graubner Library, located just north of 30 Mile Road, on the west side of Van Dyke, is open Monday - Thursday from 9:00 am - 9:00 pm, Friday and Saturday from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, and Sunday 1:00 - 4:00 pm.
